2026 CVBT Annual Conference – 30th Anniversary Celebration

2026 CVBT Annual Conference - Second Fredericksburg "The Forgotten Front" Celebrating 30 Years of Battlefield Preservation – Anniversary Surprises all Weekend!

The all-inclusive weekend ticket includes our Friday program, a morning round of speaking presentations, the details of which are still being confirmed. On Saturday morning we will meet at the University of Mary Washington's Jepson Alumni Center in Fredericksburg for a continental breakfast followed by well-known historians and authors Dr. Chris Mackowski and Kris White leading an interactive a seminar style morning of discussions preparing attendees for an afternoon of touring the Second Fredericksburg battlefield after lunch (minimal walking).

Saturday night's Annual Meeting and gala banquet featuring keynote speaker Dr. George Rable will also be held at the University of Mary Washington's Jepson Alumni Center, and will include a silent auction selection of Civil War artwork and items, as well as many other non-Civil War-related treats. Expect special CVBT 30th anniversary surprises! The weekend concludes with breakfast and a presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Varon, at Stevenson Ridge on the Spotsylvania battlefield.

On Saturday night, historian Dr. George Rable, author of seven books, including Conflict of Command: George McClellan, Abraham Lincoln, and the Politics of War, will be our keynote speaker. Rable's talk will not refight McClellan’s military campaigns, rather it will focus on Lincoln and McClellan's clashing personalities and the impact their relationship had on the course of the war.

Sunday's brunch at historic Stevenson Ridge will feature historian Dr. Elizabeth Varon, who is the author of six books. Varon will be speaking about "The Wars of Clara Barton," highlighting Barton's work in the Fredericksburg area in 1862 and 1864, part of her forthcoming book about the famous nurse and activist.

This year we are offering a full weekend package ticket, as well as a Saturday evening Banquet only ticket AND a Sunday breakfast only ticket. There are a limited number of tickets available for the full weekend package inclusive of tours. No limit on Saturday banquet only and Sunday breakfast only tickets, unless we fill the banquet hall.
